Don’t give up! - Vocational Education Support System for Young Migrants

The project is supported by The Velux Foundations. The project is conducted in cooperation with the Centre for Integration of Foreigners (CIC)

Terms: August 1, 2018 – July 31, 2022
Place: Prague, Central Bohemian Region, Liberec Region
Contact person: Petr Lovětínský

The project Don’t give up! follows on the cooperation with The Velux Foundations in form of the project Click with school and offers free services to young migrants integrating to Czech educational system and labour market: social counselling, tutoring, Czech language courses and One Year Preparatory Course for enrolling the secondary school as well as volunteer support. Besides that, it now focuses also on the methodical support of the secondary school teachers in their work with the students without sufficient knowledge of the Czech language.
The target group of the project are all young migrants between 14 – 25 years of age, who need to find a solution for their educational and professional situation with the emphasis especially on the most disadvantaged group in the access to the education: after finishing the compulsory education (mostly in the country of origin), they do not have the opportunity to learn Czech free of chargé and the lack of knowledge of the Czech language makes it impossible for these adolescents to enter the secondary school in the Czech Republic, which excludes them from the secondary and further education. Activities in the project respond to this situation and aim to improve the chances of the students to be accepted and succesfully study at a school of their potential.
Within the cooperation with the secondary vocational schools, a buddy system will also be created to support the students involved in the project and help them get used to the czech environment, while expanding the cultural knowledge of the czech students.
